“Somos Port Washington”
This year’s Fiesta in the Park theme is “Somos Port Washington,” which translates to “We are Port Washington.” The festival will highlight the Port Washington Hispanic community’s talents through performances and demonstrations, while celebrating Hispanic leaders in Port Washington.
Fiesta in the Park will continue to build on its successes thus far. A 7-piece orchestra band will headline at the event which includes a lineup of short intermissions of cultural performances, dance sets and dance lessons that will entertain all fiesta attendees. Participating local organizations and businesses will have information booths that provide a free craft or activity for the children, making this truly a family event.
The Port Washington Public Library will bring back its popular Passport Adventure where children enjoy visiting different countries (tables) where they enjoy a craft or activity, and have their passport stamped. This year, they will be representing even more countries and are excited to continue to be able to represent Port Washington’s diversity.
Long Island based food trucks, including Angie’s Empanadas, Pupusa City and Cochinita Porky, will serve Latin American cuisine, such as Peruvian pupusas, tacos, empanadas and Latin American snow cones. Serving dessert to our festival goers will be Abuelita’s Desserts, a Puerto Rican dessert company based in Port Washington; Cochinyta Minutas, a Latin American snow cone cart service; and Port Washington ice cream favorite, Smusht, serving Latin American inspired flavors.
Fiesta in the Park organizers are grateful to its host the Parent Resource Center and event partners the Port Washington Public Library, Landmark on Main Street and the Town of North Hempstead.
